Richard D’Oyly Carte [Richard DOyly Carte]
(1844–1901) the man who brought W S Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan together to write their very successful series of operas, called the ↑Savoy Operas because they were performed after 1881 at D’Oyly Carte’s new Savoy Theatre in London. D’Oyly Carte also built the ↑Savoy Hotel.
